2. restoran Nagaria - dulu2 tak banyak 'posh' cafe / restoran kat taiping.. nagaria among it, bertahan sampai arini.. bout last 4/5years, head chef nagaria hensem, sekarang tak tau whether dah tukar org ke tak..

3. popia basah kat bawah supermarket Larut Matang (the best popia basah ever!!!)... org2 taiping panggil tempat ni 'cashier market'.. (ni kira foodcourt la!).. kat bhg depan ada gerai2 abc yg best!

4. Jalan Pasar.. hujung jalan tu ada kfc..

5. Market... ni bahagian ayam2, daging.. uzur dah nampak rupa market ni!

6. Ayam Dinding.. infront of market (take this pictures dr dalam kereta while waiting for hubby beli ayam dinding roasted... i suka sgt, blk taiping tak lengkap tanpa makan ayam ni..

Taiping is 96.5 kilometers south of Pulau Pinang. Taiping was the former capital of Perak and is perhaps the oldest town in the Malay States. The area aound taiping is also the oldest tin mining area in Malaysia. Around 1840, the Chinese began mining along the surrounding districts of this town. After the Perak War, the town received the name ?Thai-Peng? or ?Everlasing Peace?. Thus it is a reminder of the fighting in the Larut district between the various factions of the Chinese Secret Societies; one of the direct causes of British armed intervention in Perak. The two most important Secret Societies were the Ghee Hin and the Hai San. The tin mines and waterways were the cause of constant conflict between the two. In 1889 the Secret Societies were banned, but they mostly carried on their activities underground.

Taiping is an instance of an important Malaysian town having a Chinese name. Early Taiping was known as Kelian Pauh. Kamunting near Taiping was called Kelian Bahru after an escaped elephant was recaptured covered with mud rich in tin. This find led the Taiping miners rushing to Kamunting.

Taiping was a thriving and well-appointed town when Ipoh was still a Chinese village, when Seremban was hardly a small railway station in Negeri Sembilan, and when Kuala Lumpur was just beginning to take on some semblance of permanence and solidity. Taiping has a Lake Garden, a small zoo and a well-maintained museum which includes collections of Malay weapons, primitive agricultural instruments, ornaments and architectural specimens.
